Chiropractic for Low Back Pain: Social Distancing and Sitting Too Much

Since the start of the Coronavirus epidemic, almost everyone can agree that their lives have somehow drastically changed. A new and temporary daily life has emerged and it probably looks a lot different. Most people are now required to work from home, exercise from home, and perhaps teach your children from home. This may not only lead to increased stress levels, but also lower back –and even neck-pain. Feeling more sedentary lately? See how to prevent unnecessary aches & pains!

How Social Distancing Can Result in Back Pain

These new daily shifts in our routine usually mean more time is spent on the computer or the phone as most workers are asked to work from home. Often times the increase in electronics and a decrease in physical exercise causes a strain on our posture, which leads to back pain. Our homes, unlike our offices, are most likely not equipped with the proper ergonomic chairs and desks that we are accustomed to.

Plus, more time on the couch watching Netflix can put a strain on our posture and cause additional strains. You may notice low back or hip pain (or make a noise) when you go to stand up.

For those considered an “essential” employee, you are probably spending more time on your feet as a healthcare professional or grocery worker. Or perhaps you may be working longer hours sitting as a truck driver delivering food or packages. This daily and prolonged strain on your body is not healthy and may require chiropractic adjustments for pain relief.

Prevent the Pain

To prevent “text neck” while spending more time online while social distancing, hold or position your cell phone, tablet, or laptop at eye level as much as possible and you won’t have to tilt your head forward or look down to view it. Our chiropractic care doctors also recommend you schedule breaks when using your phone or tablet too to ease your spine!

Chiropractic care is still part of your overall health and wellbeing. Whether you have noticeable back pain or are dealing with more stress, our private practice is ready and willing to help you. We are currently open; book your one-on-one appointment at one of our convenient chiropractor office locations!

Essential Healthcare

Our offices are open during Florida’s “safer at home” act. We are an essential service and are following all current health and safety regulations. We have the utmost regard for your health safety as well as ours.

We are only seeing one patient at a time in the office and are disinfecting and sanitizing between each patient. We are also taking temperatures of all of our employees as well as each patient upon arrival. When you are at our practice you will feel safe and comfortable.

Chiropractic Naturally Can Help You

This pandemic is unprecedented. We are in uncharted waters; our nation and the world are taking things day by day. We are not sure when self-quarantines or social distancing will end but until then it is of the utmost importance that we take care of our bodies.

Whether you are a regular chiropractic patient or you want to schedule your first appointment, please do not hesitate to call us. We are essential healthcare providers and want to help everyone we can during this time. Our chiropractors are seeing patients with acute pains or those involved in auto/bike accidents during regular office hours.

We have two convenient Tampa locations—one in Carrollwood (813-963-3055) and one in Town & Country (813-885-5786). Call today to speak with a health specialist!
